Born in Parma, Italy, Dr. Ballo spent close to two decades studying, working, and travelling between continents. Following several successful years in private practice and a postgraduate education, Dr. Ballo moved to Vancouver in 2012, where he became a Clinical Assistant Professor at the UBC Faculty of Dentistry. In recognition of his excellent contribution to the education of UBC undergraduate dental students, he received three consecutive teaching awards (2014-2016), an exceptional achievement.
A widely published and internationally respected clinician and lecturer, Dr. Ballo’s main focus within clinical practice, teaching, and research is aesthetic and implant dentistry. He is also an expert in the implementation of cutting-edge digital technologies for complex implant oral rehabilitation.
Publishing more than 50 scientific papers and book chapters, Dr. Ballo has also authored a textbook in the field of implant dentistry and related research. He has been recognized with multiple prestigious awards and honours, including the Dr. Donald Brunette Award in Dentistry, the Dr. S. Wah Leung Award, and the European Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering Doctoral Award (EDA).
He is a member of the Canadian Dental Association, British Columbia Society of Prosthodontics, British Columbia Dental Association, and American College of Prosthodontists as well as the director of the Vancouver Digital ITI Study Club.
