Dental Bridges in Vancouver, BC
In real life, a bridge is built to minimize space between one point and another; the purpose of a dental bridge is very similar. It’s used to close gaps between teeth instead of two locations. So, if you’re missing teeth and looking to address the issue, don’t wait! Please call ByDesign Implant Dentistry so we can connect you with one of our dentists near you.
What is a Bridge?
A dental bridge is a restoration customized to fit between teeth and fill in visible gaps in a patient’s smile. Depending on the case, different types of bridges can be provided. There are four main types:
1. Traditional : Traditional bridges are made of a pontic (artificial tooth) and two abutments (dental crowns). This is the most common style of bridge.
2. Maryland : A Maryland bridge is also referred to as a resin-bonded bridge. The pontic attach to a metal, wing-like framework, which keeps them in place. Resin, porcelain, or acrylic can be used to create the actual pontic.
3. Cantilever : These bridges are like traditional bridges with one main difference: only one pontic is used. As a result, this is often given to patients who have a healthy tooth on one side of the gap.
4. Implant-Supported . As the name describes, implants are first installed into the jawbone; then, the bridge is attached on top. By doing so, this provides much more support to the restoration, preventing it from shifting.

How Long Do Dental Bridges Last
A dental bridge is a wonderful solution, but it is not a permanent one. By practicing good hygiene habits – brushing twice daily, flossing once, and attending regular checkups and cleanings with your dentist – your bridge can last for several years. Eventually, it will need replacing. Additionally, if your bridge gets damaged or falls out, be sure to contact our team right away so we can remedy the issue as soon as possible.
What are the Benefits?
Dental bridges greatly benefit patients, their smiles and overall well-being. Here are some of the advantages of this treatment:
• Stops remaining teeth from moving
• Preserves your bite pattern
• Stops jawbone deterioration
• Increases your self-confidence
• Helps you pronounce words more clearly
• Prevents cavities
